“while”與“meanwhile”的區別到底在哪裡？4個差別，讓你一次搞懂！

“while” 和 “meanwhile”都表示「同時發生」，但他們有什麼區別嗎？

meanwhile連接兩個句子，所以在meanwhile出現的地方，前後一定各有一句。

while 連接同一個句子中的2個不同動作，所以句子一定只有一句。

如：

I went to a concert. Meanwhile, my friend was at a restaurant. （2句）

I will do my homework while you watch TV. （1句）

meanwhile 在第二句的句首

while 既可在句首，又可置於句中。

如：

I went to a concert. Meanwhile, my friend was at a restaurant. （第二句句首）

While you watch TV, I will do my homework. （句首）

I will do my homework while you watch TV. （句中）

meanwhile 後面一定要加逗號

while 不用加

Mom worked all day. Meanwhile, I was at school. （逗號緊跟在後）

While you sang, I took pictures of you. （沒有逗號）

meanwhile 後面接句子的主語

while 不一定，可以加主語，可以接動詞ing形式

Mom worked all day. Meanwhile, I was at school. （加主語）

While you sang, I took pictures of you. （加主語）

Every day, I eat breakfast while reading the newspaper. （加動詞ing形式）

1）People were at home watching TV. _____, aliens were planning their invasions of the Earth.

2）_____ I was waiting for Jeremy, I heard a loud noise.

3）I read a lot of books _____ I was on the airplane.

答案：

1）因為有兩句話，而連接兩個句子，只能用meanwhile

2）這裡只有一句話，並且meanwhile只能在第二個動作的句首，這裡是第一個動作的居句首，所以只能用While（記得大寫）。

3）這裡只有一句話，所以用while。
