【英式英文】英式英文有趣俚語大解密！

在各種語言當中，都會出現字詞簡化或用不同詞語描述的情形。而在英式英文中，也有許多這樣的用法。

Learn British English Free 的講師Chris提出了一些有趣的英式英文俚語，有些單字是字詞縮寫，而有些用詞則不同於美式英文，但都非常值得學習！

1. Fit / hot (adj.) & Fancy (v.)

E.g. I think she’s fit / hot. I really fancy her.
我覺得她很迷人，我真的很喜歡她。

2. Chat up (v.) 調情

E.g. One night he went into a bar and met a girl he thought was really fit. They got talking and he decided he fancied her, so he tried chatting her up.
有天晚上他去了酒吧，遇到一個迷人的女孩。他們開始聊天，而他非常喜歡她，所以他開始和那女孩調情。

3. Dosh 錢 = money

E.g. “Can I pay by card?” “I’m afraid we only take dosh.”
「我可以用信用卡付款嗎？」「我們恐怕只能收現金。」

4. Fiver 五英鎊 / Tenner 十英鎊

5. Quid 英鎊 = pound

E.g. If I have a fiver / tenner, I have five / ten quid in cash.

6. Telly = television 電視

E.g. Is there anything good on the telly tonight?
今晚電視有什麼好看的節目嗎？

7. Uni = university 大學

E.g. “Where did you go to uni?” “I went to uni in Southampton.”
「你上哪間大學？」「我在南安普敦上大學。」

8. Knackered / Cream-crackered 疲憊

E.g. I’m going to bed early, I’m absolutely knackered / cream-crackered.
我要早點上床睡覺，我真是太累了。

9. Gobsmacked 感到驚訝

E.g. When she told me she was pregnant, I was gobsmacked!
當她告訴我她懷孕了，我真是驚訝到說不出話！

10. Sketchy 擔心、焦慮

E.g. When she thought she was in trouble she was acting well sketchy.
當她覺得自己陷入麻煩中的時候，她表現得非常焦慮。

11. Bits and bobs / pieces 各式各樣的小東西

E.g. I need to pick up some bits and bobs / pieces from the shop.
我需要在那間商店裡挑選各種東西。
