explain 有「解釋、說明、闡明」的中文意思，但要怎麼用英文溝通，才能清楚地闡明、解釋你的想法或是敘述一個完整的過程呢？
《Speak English With Vanessa》講師 Vanessa 在 Youtube 上面列舉了14種英文用語來清楚地闡明你的想法，一起來看看吧！
第一部分：如何解釋一個過程。例如昨晚的行程，你都做了哪些事？
1、To start off with 一開始、首先
例：To start off with, try to have dinner between 6 and 7pm.
首先，試著在晚上6點到7點之間吃晚餐。
2、First, Second, Third, Forth, Fifth 第一、第二、第三
例：First, take a bath directly after dinner. Second, brush his teeth. Third, go into the bedroom right after.
首先，晚餐後直接洗個澡。第二，刷牙。第三，之後馬上進入臥室。
3、Next 下一個
例：Next, he’ll probably want to play with his stuffed animals in his room with you.
接下來，他可能會想和你一起在他的房間裡玩布絨動物玩具。
4、Then 然後
例：Then, ask him if he wants you to read a book or to tell his a story.
然後，問他是否想要你讀書或講一個故事。
5、Once you’ve done/finished that 一旦完成
例：Once you’ve done that, turn off the light, sit beside his bed, and tell him about his day.
完成後，關閉燈，坐在他的床邊，並告訴他關於他今天的一天。
6、Lastly/Finally 最後
例：Lastly, leave the room and tell his that you’ll come back in to tell him goodnight.
最後，離開房間，告訴他你會回來跟他說晚安。
7、In the end 最後、終於
例：In the end, he’ll usually fall asleep immediately and then wake up around 8am in the morning.
最後，他通常會立刻睡著，然後在早上8點左右醒來。
第二部分：如何清楚地解釋、闡明你的意思或想法？
當你約會快遲到時，可以這樣說：
1、What I mean is 我的意思是
例：What I mean is, I’m going to be 30 minutes late.
我的意思是，我會遲到30分鐘。
2、What I meant was 我的意思是（過去式）
例：What I meant was, I’m going to be 30 minutes late. Traffic is awful.
我的意思是，我會遲到30分鐘。交通很糟糕。
3、Oh, I meant 我的意思是（過去式）
例：Oh, I meant that I was going to be 30 minutes late. Traffic is awful.
我的意思是，我會遲到30分鐘。交通很可怕。
當你朋友問到你的工作好嗎？或是老闆、同事如何時，可以這樣說：
1、Let me put it this way 這樣說吧、老實說
例：Let me put it this way, I probably should have stayed at my old job.
我這樣說吧，我可能應該留在以前的工作上。
2、The thing is 重點是
例：The thing is, I miss my old coworkers.
重點是，我想念我的老同事。
3、Well, you see 好吧，你看
例：Well, you see, the boss is nice, but I’m not a fan of the commute. 好吧，你看，老闆很好，但我不是通勤愛好者。
4、In other words 換句話說
例：In other words, I guess no job is perfect.
換句話說，我猜沒有一項工作是完美的。
當你和朋友聊起昨晚的聚會情況時：
例1、Let me put it this way, we just didn’t have a good connection..
我這樣說吧，我們之間沒有很好的聯繫。
例2、The thing is, we just didn’t have a good connection..
重點是，我們之間沒有很好的聯繫。
例3、Well, you see, we just didn’t have a good connection..
好吧，你看，我們之間沒有很好的聯繫。
例4、In other words, we just didn’t have a good connection.
換句話說，我們之間沒有很好的聯繫。
例5、In other words, I think he’s the one!
換句話說，我想他就是那個人！
