我們都知道「look up」有向上看的意思，而「look down」則是往下看。但他們作為片語動詞(phrasal verbs)，又有何種涵義呢？
Learn British English Free的講師Chris提出了「look up to」與「look down on」這兩個英文片語的意義，並且用例句來加深你對它們的印象！
1. Look up to someone
explanation: To respect and admire (someone) 敬佩、尊敬某人
e.g. I’ve always looked up to my younger brother.
我一直都很敬佩我弟弟。
e.g. The students really look up to their teacher.
這些學生真的很尊敬他們的老師。
2. Look down on someone
explanation: To think of or treat (someone or something) as unimportant or not worthy of respect 輕視某人
e.g. The other children looked down on her because her parents were poor.
其他小孩鄙視她只因為她的父母很窮。
e.g. He looked down on all of his friends because he considered them less successful than he was.
他輕視他所有的朋友，因為他認為他們都沒有他成功。
