例：He was beaten until he was unconscious.
他被打到失去知覺。
例：I have to beat the dust out of this blanket.
我必須把這毯子上的灰塵拍打乾淨。
beat用法2. defeat 打敗、擊敗
例：I think Spiderman could beat Batman in a fight.
我認為蜘蛛人可以在戰鬥中擊敗蝙蝠俠。
例：Our team has never been beaten!
我們的團隊從未被打敗過！
beat用法3. 在某事發生之前採取行動、避免
例：Let’s beat the crowds and get tickets for the afternoon movie.
我們要避開人群拿到下午的電影票。
例：I left the house early to beat rush hour traffic.
我很早就離開家了，以避免高峰時間的交通。
beat用法4. 比…更有樂趣 ; 比…好 ＝ be better than
例：Enjoying some sun on the beach sure beats working at an office.
在海灘上享受陽光肯定比在辦公室工作更有趣。
例：Relaxing at home beats spending the day shopping.
在家放鬆比整天逛街好多了。
beat用法5. 拍打、敲打（規律的動）
例：My heart was beating fast after my run.
跑步後，我的心跳得好快。
例：The bird’s wings beat the air.
鳥的翅膀在空中震動。
beat用法6. to beat someone to something 比…先做
例：I was gonna book tickets for the show, but you beat me to it!
我本來先拿到這預訂演出的票，但你先拿到了！
例：All my coworkers beat me to the office this morning.
今早我所有的同事都比我早先到辦公室。
beat用法7. beat yourself up 怪罪自己（通常是無理由的）
To be very critical or negative about one’s actions (usually for no reason)
例：Don’t beat yourself up. It was just a small mistake.
別再責怪自己了。這只是個小錯誤。
例：I think he’s really beating himself up for declining that job offer.
我想他真的是因為推辭這份工作邀請而怪罪自己
