1.down-to-earth 務實
I want a girl who’s down-to-earth. 我想要一個務實的女孩。
2.down in the dumps 難過；失望
Since her cat died, she’s been down in the dumps. 自從貓死掉後，她一直很憂鬱。
3.down the drain 永遠失去
All my money went down the drain. 我所有的錢都永遠失去了。
4.down and out 無援/沒錢
She gambled all her money away. She’s down and out! 她賭光所有的錢，已經孤立無援了！
5.down to the wire 直到最後一刻
The game came down to the wire. 遊戲持續到最後一刻。（比數接近，僵持不下導致）
