1.Can’t help + Ving 不禁、禁不住、忍不住
Can’t help 後面常常接名詞或是動名詞。如果Can’t help 後面接名詞，通常指基本的意思「無法幫助」的意思。
例：
I can’t help her.
我無法幫她。
例：
I am afraid I can’t help you.
我恐怕無法幫你。
但是Can’t help 後面接動名詞，意思就不一樣啦。Can’t help +Ving 的意思為「to not be able to control or stop something」，也就是無法控制自己去做某件事情，意思接近於「不禁、禁不住、忍不住」。
例如電影的經典名句：
I can’t help falling in love with you.
意思為我禁不住愛上你。
例：
I can’t help thinking of my happy childhood.
我不禁想起我快樂的童年。
2.Can’t help but + 原型V 不得不
至於另外一個跟Can’t help 很像的句型為Can’t help but ，Can’t help but 的意思為「A phrase used when one feels very strongly compelled to do something.」也就是你強烈的想要去做某件事，中文意思接近於「不得不」。
例：
Her parents live nearby, so she can’t help but go there on holidays.
她的父母住在附近，所以她不得不在假期去那裡。
例：
When a close friend dies, we can’t help but feel sad.
當好友去世時，我們不得不感到難過。
例：
I can’t help but cheat on my girlfriend.
我不得不欺騙我女友。
其實 Can’t help but 跟 Can’t help 意思上幾乎是一樣的，沒有多大差別。只是 Can’t help but 後面接原型動詞，Can’t help 後面接動名詞 Ving。
例：
I can’t help but cry when I see this movie.
當看我這部電影時，我忍不住哭了。
= I can’t help crying when I see this movie.
例： He can’t help but dance when he hears that song!
