英文There is not / There is no 用法差在哪？使用時機？

英文There is not / There is no 用法差在哪？ Not 跟 no 在英文裡面都是否定的意思，但你可能會發現，有些英文ˋ句子就是只能用Not ，而有些英文句子則要使用No，用Not 文法就會錯，到底No跟Not 差別在哪呢？如果你還不知道，那就趕快學起來吧！

No 可以出現在名詞的前面喔！

例：
There’s no address on the envelope.
信封上沒有地址。

另外，No也很常用來回答Yes/No問句。

例：
Did you finish your homework? No, I didn’t finish my homework.
你完成作業了嗎？不，我沒有完成作業。

No 很常出現在名詞前面，而且名詞前面是沒有冠詞的。

例：
Jenny has no idea where her phone is.
珍妮搞不懂她的手機在哪。

例：
The school has no bad teachers.
這學校沒有壞老師。

除此之外，No也很常出現在動名詞前面。

例：
No smoking.
別抽煙。

例：
No playing in the street!
馬路上禁止玩耍。

那麼英文Not的使用時機呢？Not 通常出現在當你想要描述負面的事物的時候。

例：
I do not like her.
我不喜歡她。

例：
He is not cooking dinner tonight.
他今晚不會煮飯。

例：
Not surprisingly, the hotel was very nice.
毫不奇怪，這間酒店非常好。

另外，Not 也很常出現在名詞前面，而且名詞前面會有冠詞喔。

例：
He is not a teacher; he is a student.
他不是老師。他是學生。

另外，關於No跟Not的用法，很常會令人感到困惑的句子為：

There is/are no + 名詞
There isn’t/aren’t any + 名詞

例：
There’s no reason to be afraid of her.
There isn’t any reason to be afraid of her.
沒有理由怕她。

上面這兩句英文句子意思是一樣的，要注意的是，如果你要在There is/There are 後面接not，後面通常會加上any。也就是There isn’t/aren’t any + 名詞的句型。

至於這兩個英文句子的差別是，通常There is/are no 會給人一種語氣較為強烈的感受，相比於There isn’t/aren’t any來說的話。

例：
He paid no attention to what I was saying.
He didn’t pay any attention to what I was saying.
他沒注意我在說什麼。

上面第一個句子使用no的話，會感人語氣叫強烈的感覺。

另外，如果No/Not 後面接冠詞的話，就不能使用No，而是要使用Not唷。

例：
She is not a student.（正確）
She is no a student.（錯誤）
