1. raise : 舉起、抬起
例：Raise your hand!
舉起你的手！
例：Let’s raise the shelf a little highter.
我們把架子抬高一點！
2. raise 增加、提高
例：The government is raising taxes next year.
明年政府將提高稅收。
例：My landlord raised the rent!
我的房東提高了租金！
3. raise 使存在、引起、導致
例：This change raises a lot of questions.
這改變引起了很多問題。
例：Her behavior raised red flags.
她的行為使她存在著紅旗的可能。
4. raise 餵養、養育、照顧
＝to take care of someone or something
例：My parents decided to raise chickens!
我的父母決定養雞！
例：Where were you raised?
你是在哪被養大的？
I grew up in … or I was raised in… 我在…長大的
I want to raise my kids in (place or environment) 我想在（地點或環境）撫養孩子
5. raise 增加他人的賭注（賭博）
例：I’ll raise you $20.
我要增加20元賭注。
例：She raised him $3,000.
她比他多押了$3,000元賭注。
6. raise 籌集資金（從不同來源獲取資金）
例：Let’s raise money in a fund raiser.
我們從一個基金募集活動中獲取資金。
例：How are we going to raise money for this project？
我們要如何為這個項目募得經費？
7. raise eyebrows 揚眉
to cause mild suspicion or surprise 表示引起輕微的疑慮或驚訝
例：Her weekend plans raised some eyebrows at the office.
她的週末計畫在辦公室引起了一些關注。
例：If you confront management you might raise some eyebrows.
如果你要對抗管理層，可能會引起一些注意。
8. raise the bar 提高標準、拉高水平
例：We need to raise the bar for our work.
我們需要提高我們的工作標準。
例：They’re raised the bar at that restaurant!
他們在那餐廳中提高了水平。
9. raise hell 鬧事、大吵大鬧
to behave in a noisy way (often causing problems for others) 表示以吵雜方式行事（通常會製造他人麻煩）
例：A bunch of college kids are raising hell at the beach.
一群大學生正在海灘上大吵大鬧。
例：Let’s raise hell!
