ex.

我昨天讀了一篇很棒的文章！

to interpret something as if you are reading it
就好像你正在讀它似的去解釋一些東西。
ex.
He’s really hard to read.
他真的很難懂。
My best friends can read me like a book.
我最好的朋友能看透我，我就好像看一本書一樣。

to assign a meaning to something else
為其他事物賦予意義。
ex.
This passage can be read totally differently.
這段話完全可以有不同的解讀。
How did you read that message?
你怎麼看這訊息？
= How did you understand that message?
= What was the true meaning you understood?

to indicate
表示.表明.指出
ex.
The clock reads 2:00.
時鐘顯示兩點。
The sign reads “visitors not permitted”.
標誌上寫著“訪客不被允許”。

to read into 臆測
to believe in a deeper meaning behind words (often with no reason)
（通常沒有理由地）去相信詞語背後有更深層的含義。
ex.
She’s being extra nice to him. I’m try not to read into it, but I wonder if they’re dating.
她對他特別好。我雖然試著不去臆測，但我想他們是不是在約會。
Don’t read into his comments.
不要過分解讀他的評論。
to read between the lines
言外之意，看出字裡行間的意思。表示了解到一些沒有直接陳述.不明確的事情。
ex.
The manager said he was happy with last month’s performance, but reading between the lines, I think he wishes we had done better.
經理說他對於上個月的表現他覺得很滿意，但看得出來，我覺得他希望我們能做得更好。
I think if you read between the lines, you’ll see that the company is not doing so well.
我想如果你聽得到弦外之音，你會發現公司做的並不好。
