在台灣有百貨公司年終週年慶，在美國則是聖誕節後大降價的血拼季，此時許多人都會失心瘋，大買特買無法自拔，要形容這種狀況，你會用得上這些句子：
Becky is a total shopaholic. 貝琪是個不折不扣的購物狂。
She maxed out all her credit cards during the holiday shopping season. 她在年終購物季時把她所有的信用卡都刷爆了。
Shelly’s husband cut up her credit cards after she went on a wild shopping spree. 雪莉瘋狂掃貨後，她老公就把她的信用卡給剪了。
shopaholic(購物狂)這個單字的概念來自alcoholic（酗酒者）這個字。英文中尚有很多用 -holic 結尾的字，用來形容「對⋯⋯上癮」。
max out 為「達到上限」的意思，max out one’s credit card 就是「卡刷爆了」。
spree可當動詞或名詞，為「沒有節制地做某事」，除shopping spree（瘋狂購物）外，常聽到的連用詞還有eating spree（大吃大喝）、killing spree（縱慾殺戮，即在短時間內屠殺多人）等。
只要逛一圈大賣場，總是可以看到一些促銷活動，假如有一天你到了國外的超市，對著琳琅滿目的標語和促銷，卻看不懂、聽不懂，豈不是虧大了？
「買一送一」，通常會說：
Buy one, get one free!
Two for the price of one!
賣場人員在推銷時，還會說：
Free samples! 歡迎免費試吃！
Would you like a sample packet? 要不要一包試用包？
We’re having a special on milk today. Buy one, get one free! 我們今天鮮奶有特價，買一送一！
Pork chops are two for the price of one! 豬排現在買一送一！
Buy any men’s shirt and get the second for half price! 男裝上衣第二件半價！
Women’s sweaters are half off today! 女裝毛衣今天打五折！
All paperback books are 20% off this week. 所有平裝書本週都打八折。
Supplies are limited! Get them while they last! 數量有限！趕緊搶購售完為止！
Today is the last day! Don’t miss the sale! 今天是活動最後一天！別錯過大拍賣喔！
如果你在大賣場工作碰到外國朋友，想要多開發一個「國際客戶」，你可以試著說：
This is our newest flavor. Everyone loves it! 這可是我們的最新口味，很受大家歡迎喔！
Try it! There’s no need to buy, but one taste and you’ll love it! 試試看！不買沒關係，但一吃就會愛上！
客人終於買單，你可以再追加幾句：
If you buy a thousand NT’s worth, I can give you a ten percent discount. 你如果買滿一千元，我可以給你打九折。
If you buy another bottle, I’ll throw in a free refill package. 你再買一瓶，我就再送你一包免費補充包。
I can’t give you a bigger discount, but I can throw in free delivery. 我沒辦法給你更優惠的折扣，但我可以加碼幫你免費送到家。
但如果你是顧客，遇到很盧的推銷員，你可以說：
Thank you but I don’t like to eat / drink these kinds of things. 謝謝，不過我不喜歡吃／喝這個東西。
Sorry, I’m not interested. 對不起，我對這沒興趣。
I’m just looking. Thanks anyway. 我只是看看而已。謝謝囉。
