1.Prior 在先的，在前的

3.Prior to 後面接動名詞 Ving 還是原型動詞？
多數人都知道 to 後面應該接原型動詞，但是 Prior to 例外喲，Prior to 後面要接動名詞 Ving，因為 Prior to 幾乎等同於 before。英文裡面有很多片語的to後面是例外要接動名詞的，例如 look forward to 後面也是接動名詞，Prior to 也同樣是接動名詞。

Do you want to go out with me prior to leaving?

例：
You must finish your homework prior to going out with your friends.
與朋友外出前，您必須完成作業。
4.Prior to 跟 Before 該用哪個？
既然 Prior to 跟 before 意思一樣，用法也一樣，那麼應該用 Prior to 還是 Before 呢？答案是：你應該用 Before。因為語言這個東西應該盡可能地簡單，因為 before 的用法更簡潔，所以你應該盡量用 before 就好，而不是讓句子看起來更複雜一點。
