to understand 跟上、了解
ex. I don’t follow you.
= I don’t understand you.
= I don’t understand what you’re saying.
= I don’t understand what you’re thinking.
= I don’t follow your train of thought.
= I can’t understand/follow the path of your logic.
ex. Do you follow?
= Do you understand?
= Do you understand what I’m saying?
to happen after something ; to come after 伴隨、跟隨（在某件事情後面發生）
ex. A delicious dessert followed the roast chicken.
ex. A luxurious hot spring experience follows a relaxing massage on this 1-day tour.
ex. Did you follow the instructions on the instant ramen?
ex. She decided to follow her manager’s advice.

to follow suit
= to do the same thing as the person previously mentioned
ex. My manager just quit the company. I think I’m gonna follow suit.
ex. Her boyfriend decided to leave the party, so she followed suit.
to follow through on/with
=to keep a promise ; to do a promised action
ex. I hate it when people don’t follow through with their plan.
ex. I’m going to follow through on my resolution to find a new job.
to follow in someone’s footsteps
to do the same thing as one’s parent (or other elder figure of significance)
ex. He’s following in his father’s footsteps and becoming a lawyer.
ex. She decided not to follow in her mother’s footsteps after all.
