我們都知道可以用”lucky”、”Fortunately”來表示幸運,但永遠都只會用這幾個單字也未免太遜了!而且幸運有很多種情況,像是死裡逃生、逃過一劫,這些詞彙可就不適用了!
Let’s talk的英文老師特地整理了10個短句,表達不同情境、不同狀況的「幸運」。
1. It’s a good thing (that…) – 這是一件好事。
ex. 若你的朋友出了車禍,但幸好
人並沒有受傷,便可以說”It’s a good thing that they were not hurt. We must thank God for it.”
2. It’s just as well – 幸好
ex. It’s beginning to rain, it’s just as well that we brought our umbrellas.
開始下雨了,幸好我們有帶傘。
3. Fortunately/ Luckily – 幸運的是
4. As luck would have it… – 碰巧、走運
ex. We ran out of petrol on the way home, but as luck would have it, we were very near a garage.
我們在回家的路上把汽油用完了。幸運的是,我們碰巧在車庫附近。
5. That was a stroke of luck – 意外的走運
ex. Unless I have a stroke of luck, I’m not going to finish this report by tomorrow.
除非我莫名其妙地超級走運,不然明天是不可能完成這份報告的。
7. It’s very/most fortunate (that)… – 超級幸運
ex. It’s most fortunate that Phil was driving up to Manchester that evening and gave me a lift.
超幸運,Phil今天傍晚開車去曼徹斯特時,順路載了我一程。
8. That was a close thing / near miss – 逃過一劫
這個片語用於剛剛在附近發生了災難,而我們碰巧錯開了。
9. It must be your lucky day! – 今天是你的幸運日(正式用法)
ex. Sir, today is your lucky day: you’ve been selected for an all-expenses-paid trip to the Bahamas!
先生,今天是你的幸運日:你被選中去巴哈馬的旅遊,所有費用由我們支付!
10. You lucky thing! / You jammy bastard – 你真走運/你個幸運的混蛋(非正式用法)
