英文中，有許多關於「馬」的有趣俚語，Let’s talk的英文老師特地整理出了 6 組包含”Horse”的俚語，無論是日常對話或是寫作時都非常實用喔。
1. get off your high horse
請對方不要再舉止傲慢、或認為自己高人一等。
ex. Get off your high horse , you aren’t as smart as you think you are.
2. eat like a horse 食量巨大
形容食量非常大。
ex. I eat like a horse.
3. to flog /beat a dead horse 徒勞無功
徒勞無功、努力沒有成果。
ex. He keeps going for auditions but I think he’s flogging/beating a dead horse.
4. To hold your horses
如果你做某件事的速度太快，需要冷靜下來，先停留一下或者放慢速度。
ex. She has invested a lot of money .she needs to hold her horses.
5. straight from the horse’s mouth
從消息可靠人士那邊聽來的。
ex. She is quitting her job, I heard it straight from the horse’s mouth.
6. to Back the wrong horse 看走眼
看走眼。
ex. I invested a lot of money on him and eventually realized I have backed a wrong horse.
