The best place to watch the Alishan sunrise is Zhushan, which can be reached by a short train ride from Alishan Train Station.

In March and April, the Alishan Forest Recreation Area is filled with beautiful pink and white cherry blossoms.

Although the original 3,000-year-old “Sacred Tree” collapsed in 1997, Alishan still has many giant red cypress trees.

Guided tours are available during the Alishan Firefly Festival in April and May, but fireflies can be seen here year-round.
